Johan Forssell, a member of Sweden's Moderate Party, has been serving as Minister for Migration since 2024 under Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. In this role, he has focused on overhauling regulatory frameworks to pivot Sweden from asylum-based immigration toward labour migration, aiming to attract global talent while reducing asylum levels to improve integration and secure the long-term sustainability of the welfare state. Previously, he was the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade (2022-2024) and member of the Riksdag (2010-2022). Since 2021 he is Chair of the Moderate Party.
