The American Garden at Almedalen

Almedalen Week (Almedalsveckan) is Sweden's annual gathering for politics, business, and civil society, held each summer in the medieval city of Visby on the island of Gotland. Part political summit, part public forum, it brings together government leaders, companies, organizations, academics, media, and citizens for several days of open discussions, seminars, and informal meetings.

Almedalen's distinctive feature is its accessibility. Ministers, business leaders, policymakers, and the public move through the same streets and take part in thousands of conversations. The result is an unusually open environment for exchanging ideas, building relationships, and shaping the issues that affect Sweden and its place in the world.

A Transatlantic Meeting Place

For AmCham Sweden, Almedalen is a natural extension of our mission to promote U.S.–Swedish trade and investment. Through the American Garden, we create a transatlantic meeting place where members and partners connect, share knowledge, and engage policymakers on the questions that matter most to business and the U.S.–Swedish relationship. When that relationship is tested, spaces like this matter more, not less. Since 2022, the American Garden has been home to American business at Almedalen. It sits in central Visby, with a covered terrace for up to 100 seated guests and indoor rooms for roundtables and private meetings.
