Member Services

Founded in 1992, AmCham Sweden is the only trade association in Sweden dedicated to U.S.-Swedish trade and investment. We have a deep network of chambers of commerce and trade associations, and we are members of the United States Chamber of Commerce and AmChams in Europe. Moreover, AmCham Sweden is a trusted policy partner for our members and our interlocutors in the Swedish, U.S., and EU governments.

Our member companies include the largest American companies in Sweden and some of the most prominent Swedish companies with business in the U.S. Overall, AmCham Sweden helps ensure that the Swedish market remains internationally competitive and welcoming to American businesses. What is more, we offer our members a robust network that helps member company executives be more productive and enriches their professional lives. As trusted interlocutors, we facilitate regular dialogue between the public and private sectors.

AmCham has a strong working relationship with the Embassy of the United States in Stockholm, including the Ambassador and the Commercial Section. Members of AmCham may also engage in advocacy and policy shaping at our various activities, where they have the opportunity to meet high-ranking government officials and business leaders and discuss issues that impact their businesses. What is more, the Government Relations Committee examines matters of concern to member companies and, when appropriate, informs the Swedish Government and U.S. Government.

We work to enhance knowledge about trade, including ongoing negotiations, promote Transatlantic dialogue, and provide opportunities to learn about U.S., Swedish, and EU business practices, taxes, laws and regulations. We maintain close working relationships with AmCham EU, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and AmChams in Europe.

Member Services

We are uniquely positioned to assist American companies and a welcoming resource to call for advice, assistance, and referrals.

AmCham members are entitled to a variety of services and may call upon AmCham for assistance on certain issues or for intelligence on the latest policy developments in Stockholm, Washington, and Brussels. Benefits include opportunities to host partner programs, networking at upcoming AmCham programs, and participate in the American Garden at Almedalen. The following are examples of our services:

Raising the Profile of Swedish-American Business

  • We consistently underscore the importance of the U.S.-Swedish relationship and business ties and encourage members and government officials to work with AmChams directly.

  • We regularly brief government officials and emphasize the significance of the U.S.-Swedish trade relationship.

  • We work to promote regular U.S. Embassy participation in AmCham activities.

Committees

AmCham’s Committees are open to Patron and Corporate member companies, and facilitate cooperation between member companies within and across industries, enabling them to identify and address common issues and achieve common goals. The Committees arrange high-level engagements with both governmental and business leaders. Patron and Associate Member company representatives are invited to join relevant committees.

Communications

Regular engagement between AmCham and our members is critical to our shared success. Among the ways in which we communicate:

  • Patron Policy Update: This is an update on key issues on which the AmCham Team is advocating for or tracking, as well as information about upcoming programs and news articles of note. In addition, we provide reporting on the latest developments in the trade and economic agenda in Stockholm, Washington, and Brussels.

  • Communication from AmCham’s Managing Director regarding Chamber priorities.

  • Press Statements and news items outlining AmCham’s positions affecting the U.S.-Swedish trade agenda on an ad hoc basis.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC

The U.S. Chamber briefs AmCham Sweden on policy developments in Washington and Brussels and assists us in our engagements with U.S. officials. Among the services we offer via the U.S. Chamber of Commerce:

  • Briefings — in-person or virtually.

  • Support for AmCham programs in Washington or online, including the availability of senior chamber executives to participate in AmCham-organized or sponsored events, whether in person or via remote participation.

  • Assistance in scheduling key appointments with Congressional and Administration officials, as well as outreach to state and local Chambers.

Facilitation of Business Assistance Requests

At AmCham, we make it our business to know who to call next and who to introduce you to, so you can take another step on your business development journey.

  • We provide key in-country resources and contacts to facilitate expansion via our extended networks.

  • Our downtown offices can accommodate meetings with your Sweden-based clients.

Programs

In-person events where networking with peers, other executives, and decision-makers is a great way to build your reputation, as well as identify customers and transform leads into sales. Our program attendees are well-connected inside and outside of their own companies. Plus, attending AmCham events helps spread the word about your services and efficacy and potentially garner further introductions to the companies you are looking for. Many of our members opt to add visibility options to their membership as well, which are tied to programs or AmCham communications to enhance that goal.

Stay on top of what’s happening in the market here. We are able to help you navigate the eccentricities of the Swedish market. For instance, we can offer a political and cultural crash course to help you get to know Swedish customers better and learn about the cultural differences and market developments that may impact your business.

Your Home in Sweden

You are welcome to use AmCham Sweden’s office as your home base and work from our centrally located office in the center of Stockholm with coffee/tea and access to day passes and discounted meeting rooms at United Spaces co-working locations throughout Sweden.

Patron Membership

AmCham Sweden Patron membership comprises U.S. corporations with investments in Sweden and Swedish companies operating in the U.S. The membership provides networking, knowledge-sharing, and policy-shaping platforms for members of the U.S.-Swedish business community. To that end, we host numerous activities where members can connect with other executives, business leaders, and government officials. Membership also provides an effective way to expose employees to the international business community, thus enhancing their professional development.

Patron Member Participation in Policy Development & Advocacy

Patron Member views on issues of importance to their business help shape the Chamber’s approach to these matters. As such, Patron Members are encouraged to participate in meetings or other discussions in which specific policy measures are being considered.

  • Patron Member CEOs and Country Managers sit on AmCham’s Advisory Board.

  • AmCham regularly solicits input from Patron Members, providing them an opportunity to express their views on policies that are then considered by the Board of Directors.

  • Patron Member input on AmCham’s ongoing advocacy informs a variety of our activities. In recent years, for instance, AmCham has addressed issues related to data flows, the public procurement of cloud services, visas, and other issues of importance to the transatlantic relationship in meetings with officials in both Sweden and Washington, DC, as well as with Swedish, U.S., and European policymakers.

All employees of member companies are entitled to the benefits of membership.
