AmCham’s fifth annual visit to Almedalen was marked by thought-provoking seminars, exceptional speakers and panelists, and a memorable Independence Day mingle.
Over three days we welcomed hundreds of audience members and speakers from more than thirty organizations. We started the week with America Day on July 2nd, beginning with White House correspondent Jon Decker. Named the 34th most influential guest at Almedalen this year, Mr. Decker provided a unique inside perspective on the White House, and the changes he has seen over the four administrations he has covered.
This exclusive seminar was followed up with a session with the Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce of the USA (SACC-USA) and Svenska Institutet covering our collaborative Talent Mobility program. Speakers highlighting the importance of talent mobility between Sweden and the U.S. included the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Pamela Tremont, as well as Citi’s Global Chief Economist, Catherine L. Mann. State Secretary to Foreign Trade Minister Ann Linde, Niklas Johansson, also emphasized the benefits that come from talent mobility as an element of strengthening our transatlantic relationship. America Day concluded with a fireside chat on misconceptions about the CLOUD Act with Michael Punke, Vice President of Public Policy for Amazon Web Services.
On July 3rd, the AmCham Arena hosted six exciting programs, covering topics from access to healthcare data, to a defense dialogue and a conversation about changing the game of security, as well as the positive impact of artificial intelligence and including the elderly in digitized payment systems.
On July 4th, we co-hosted Together Against Corruption for the 5th consecutive year with our partners at Institutet Mot Mutor and Transparency International Sverige.
Providing a platform to facilitate discussions on these topics and more with leaders from each field is a key part of AmCham’s participation in Almedalen.
As always, we are committed to providing a platform at Almedalen to discuss issues that impact Swedish-American business, and initiating important conversations between members, leaders in business, and all guests at our programs.
