It has been a very busy few months since I came on board as the Managing Director of AmCham Sweden. I want to thank all of you for making the transition as smooth and seamless as possible.
As many of you know, I have lived in Sweden for more than a decade and have been active in the American community, including serving as the President of the American Club of Sweden. Prior to moving to Stockholm, I was an adviser to then Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and the insights and experiences gained at his side on Capitol Hill have been invaluable for my new role at AmCham Sweden.
Since August, the Board of Directors, my colleagues and I have been planning and implementing the next phase in the growth of AmCham Sweden. Among other activities, we have launched a new website and identified four key topic areas where we can contribute by sharing knowledge, making connections, and engaging in advocacy. You can read about the topics here – and we value your input. So please provide any feedback or suggestions here.
As the voice of American business in Sweden, we have one overarching mission: to promote US - Swedish trade and investment and US commercial interests in Sweden. We are, in short, champions of our members’ business interests.
Today, we have more than 200 member companies, representing more than 150,000 employees in Sweden. We proactively support and promote the interests of members – making connections in the business community, with policymakers, and chambers of commerce around the world, engaging in issue advocacy, and sharing knowledge.
And we are dedicated to creating richer value and deeper membership engagement. In 2015, we will be introducing new networking platforms, marketing opportunities, and more.
What’s more, we are working with the member company experts who volunteer on our Working Committees to better leverage their expertise. The Working Committees are micro-networks in which members are exposed to opportunities for both professional and personal development and inspiration.
AmCham Sweden committee members network with peers, exchange best practices, discuss trends, and learn cultural dos and don’ts. They also arrange activities for the Chamber, develop policy recommendations, and keep members up to date about developments in trade and investment, innovation, competition, workplace issues, sustainability, governance, and more.
AmCham Sweden is a dynamic network comprised of a wide range of experts, and buttressed by a broader network of partner organizations in Sweden, Europe and the world, giving you a networking platform, critical business information, and an amplified voice.
Whether yours is a big company or a small business, everyone has dreams of growing their business. We can help you make the connections and acquire the knowledge that will make your business dreams a reality. And we work hard to learn your business so we can support your growth.
Ultimately, our success is measured by your success. So contact me to learn more about AmCham Sweden and how you and your company can get more deeply engaged.
Best wishes for 2015,
Peter R. Dahlen
