In 2017, Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into Sweden reached $1.2 billion, nearly equaling the investment flows from the previous three years combined. Sweden is the fifth-largest recipient of Chinese FDI in Europe, yet lacks a formal direct investment review/screening mechanism. Neither does the country have a central authority in charge of investment screening.
Please join executives throughout our network as AmCham welcomes Matt Ferchen, a non-resident scholar at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, where he runs the China and the Developing World Program. At this special event, Dr. Ferchen will discuss how implementing a strong screening mechanism could serve the national security interests of Sweden and other EU countries.
Marianne Ramel, Partner at DLA Piper will provide opening remarks and moderate the Q&A portion of the program. We hope you can join us.
